May complete (tick)

Can I please have a M for may Chooky.

I'm slowly catching up - June is prepped, so I may manage a double month if I'm lucky in July!

June blocks....

are just  about done.......just a finishing off a few bits.  Hopingto post a picture over the next few days!

I am really enjoying seeing everyone's finishes and it is always very inspiring to see the pictures filter through.

I am also enjoying doing this SAL, but  I have to say that the pressure is on, trying to get them done in time each month as there has been so many blocks to do along with the pre planning of colurs etc etc.

As you say we are all so busy, but I have to say for me, i spend any free time with needle and thread.  In fact I spend many of my lunch breaks escaping the office to go and stitch get my blocks done, so I can assure you, i havent given up, just trying to keep up. !!

July however may take a little longer  so I think I will struggle to get that one done in time, so feel I might  be running a little behind on that one.

Re blogging and comments, when I do get some free time, I do try and leave comments here and there.(that is when im not stitching) heheh!

Looking forward to seeing so many different quilts at the end. They all look so good thus far!

June Done and Dusted

As usual I have my blocks finished just in the nick of time.

The plan was to do the machine applique and little patchwork panels on Sunday.  However, it was such a nice sunny and WARM day that I couldn't stay inside, so a mad rush last night and tonight.

I decided to make my leaves and acorn in autumn colours, as that is more appropriate for the season at the moment.

I've still been using tiny scraps for the applique.  The lady birds and floral heart were removed from Chooky's fabric scrap bin when we visited a few weeks ago - too small for her tub under the table.  They weren't even big enough for the tiny squares in the patchwork panel.

You can't have ladybirds without spots.  One fabric was ideal with a small print and I added some colonial knots on the other while I was stitching the head and legs.

The blue heart is another tiny triangular scrap from Nundle.

I love the way the patchwork circles have turned out.  Unfortunately, I have finally had to look further afield for fabrics, going to my stash.  I'm running out of suitable sized scraps to get enough variety of colour.

I had a couple of "Doh!" moments.  Early in the piece I was very organised and traced all the circles and squares onto the background fabrics ready to blanket stitch.  The only problem was that these two blocks don't get embroidered and the circles are smaller.  Fortunately, there is JUST enough fabric in the patchwork panel to make a 5 inch circle and hide my tracings.

Also, don't you hate it when you do this with Vlisofix!  Yep, fused to the front of the fabric.  More haste, less speed.

So, another month finished with two hours to spare.  Not only that, the whole border is now finished. I didn't think I would make it this time.

I'm really looking forward to playing with the centre block next month.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes Chooky.  You know how much I appreciate the incentive to keep going.

Cheers

Janice

Still Here

Just to let you know I am still here. Not much done on the stitch-along in the last month.  Have been sick and had a quick trip to the South Island.  In the last week have got back to sewing again, but now on night shift again.  Strangely enough I seem to start sewing when this arrives, so hopefully another post soon.

May & June

Was determined to get back on track with this one so I have plenty of time for the centre block.... great to be back on track.

I check in here often and have read all posts, love seeing all the quilts coming together!

My dog ate my homework!!

True!..she did!!.. but I got it back...
My glue pen didn't survive though!!….she munched the lid to bits!! :(

June finished…I know, one small square has a circle… but I seem to have a heap of hearts!!

I'm really enjoying seeing everyones blocks…we're over the hump and heading to the home stretch now!!  WhooHoo…or maybe the centre panel is the hump!!??
Cheers Lea

June.....done :-)

So now I'm ready to start on the big July block.

I am still here and have mostly caught up!

I have had a little hiatis from blogging but Nature's Journey has always been on my mind.  It is so nice to see everyone's version of the pattern! I will comment this week and get caught up on everyone's progress.  I have completed the prep work for the applique and am now taking the time to applique...between training for marathons and getting as much of Canada's short summer as I can I take the quiet moments to applique. Yay for prep work!

Here are my parts 3, 4 and 5.  I am still playing with the stems.  For part 5 I am happy with them because I went back and mad the stems ON THE BIAS ;).

I like that the project is so portable!  I can't wait to put all these blocks together! Such fun! Happy Sewing everyone!

Yee Haaaa

I am very pleased to announce that after a weekend of slogging away I have my JUNE blocks finished.  What a relief to be up to date finally.

Golly July looks like a task - I had best not leave that to late in the month.

Hope you are all sewing away and enjoying the process.

Hugs - Fee xx

June is finished......

.....for me.
Happy Stitching,

Natures Journey Catchup

Hello to my stitchalong friends...a bit of an update for you all, and to keep Chookys whip away...lol!!

March blocks...

I'm getting better as I go along with this needle turn technique, or so I thought 'til I got to the points on the pieced block!!!

Loving this pear block :)
The next lot are the April blocks...the diamond star block was a challenge, my centre is not as tidy as I'd like!

April....

Probably my favourite block so far...

Have a lovely day!! Cool one here have had around 3" of rain this month everything is beautifully green and muddy!! Better than the red dust though :) Will update with next two months blocks this week...Cheers, Suze.

I`m in time.

Hello my friends.
I`m in time with my June blocks.:)
I had an accident earlier in the month
and wasn`t sure this post would get done.

I had sorted the applique and cut squares for the blocks
but not the 1 1/2"sqs for the circle blocks.
As I have damaged my back, standing for cutting
had been impossible. So pleased that I can do so now.
Still on my pain medication though.
Also no driving till the 17th July!!!
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

I'm back!

Hi, girls! I'm back! Thank you, Susan, for inviting me! I couldn't stay without a Stitching along project by Annie Dawns and now I got the pattern! I stitched the January pattern and I decided to make a wallhanging like the one in the third photo, from Some kind of wonderfull... Now I'm on holiday far away from home... can't wait to return home to begin the quilt pattern!!!

June Finished With Days to Spare

I started slow this month. I didn't do anything until after the 16th, but still finished in time. I'm not looking forward to the rest of the sections. I think I need to work on something else for a while. I've kind of made a plan in my mind to get started though. We'll see...

June Blocks

June blocks all done. Think these could be my favorites so far -

and some more -

June is done for me...

Those little blocks sewn into circles are fun... I like that idea...

... and I adore the little ladybugs....

... here they are all together....

Thanks Chookyblue and Susan for coordinating - so many wonderful quilts are growing....

June going well.

I have finally got to take some photos and post. May is done but I realised this morning I had forgotten to blanket stitch one... Oh no.. tonight then..

I am nearly finished June . I laid them all out this morning as I had all blocks mixed up when I dropped my folder.  Stitch along is definitely a good way to make me stay on task...

I love this flower .  I think its my favourite.

I do not know what that  brown shadow is on my blocks but its not coffee...lol.. Must be some weird light thing.

Everything so far

Enjoy your stitching  ladies...

Hiccups

I've had a few hiccups on the road of life these past couple of months but I am determined that this project will not become another UFO !!

I spent the weekend getting my MAY blocks finished and I'm hoping to make a start on June later today.  It would be nice to have them finished by the end of the month but I'm not promising anything.  It feels so much better to be back up to date if only for a few days LOL.

Tick tick tick !!!

Dawnies  update....
May done!
So.... That is a tick for Feb , Mar, Apr, May!!!
june not too far away, trying to keep up to date .

June Finish

I'm calling this project my 'sanity saver'.  When at the end of 'one of those days' (and they seem to be quite regular) I can sit down and pick up where I left off the night before ... and knowing that a NJ friend, somewhere, is also stitching away... maybe even on the same block.

Can I have a 'J' please ... so happy to be ahead again this month.

I have also made a start on July and pieced the background together. Might just have some time this afternoon to gather applique pieces.

June Blocks completed….

It sew nice to be up to date with my Blocks for the SAL….. I did made a blunder this month by making the squares too small. Cut then 1” instead of 1 1/2”

June Done - Susan Oh 2 Sew

Cruising along this month - it's only the 18th and these have been finished for a few days . .

I swapped the circles of squares for another hexie flower and star....I am not too sure about the red ladybirds either...the red might pop too much when its all together ...but I can't do a lady bird in any colour other than red...
(I think there is a word for being too pedantic...but let's no go there...)

I've made a start on July...got all the shapes ready to go . . .need to play with the background idea and I will be cutting some extra strips as I get all the fabrics out to get ready for those squares that are coming up.

I love seeing all the blocks and all the variations...keep posting girls - progress shots are encouraging for everyone else too.

Last Minutes

4Hour before departure,June made..instead of cleaning i made these blocks,  see you again
