A quick end-of-financial-year update :)

Whoooshhh...and another month has passed! I thought I had better pop in and share my progress before another month passes by just as quickly!

Simply gorgeous shoes...

...I have a pair of red polkadot ones minus the yellow flowers...they are my very favourite pair!

Pet cat turned out to be polka dottie too...that happens a lot around my house!

I forgot to take a photo of my strip for June (but it's done!) , and I am still working on my sewing and best friends blocks...because May whoooooshed past even faster than June! Hope to be finished those in the next couple of days :)

June update

Hello everyone. This months flown by but most of it I`ve enjoyed my stitching time. I did have a break for a few days with no needle in my hand which isn`t me.

Years ago I was blessed with a free pair of red shoes as a girlfriend brought two pairs and got the third pair free. She came round and took me to the shoe shop to choose. They felt like having my slippers on they where so comfortable.
A year or so later I went on a bus trip to `Calico Christmas` (this is a quilt show) held in Auckland. I wore those shoes and plenty of walking was done. It was raining when heading back to the bus to go to our hotel. I wasn`t worried. That night we had a dinner to attend at the hotel and while waiting for my meal I moved my feet under the table feeling something strange. I looked down and my soles had come off! I was so pleased I`d packed a pair of sandals. Those shoes where beyound repair. Other wise the weekend was amazing.

We have always had a cat or two living with us. I changed my cat to one from Lynette Andersons `Stitched by Me` block six. I also stitched the journey  ribbon down the side as the cats have been on our lifes journey with us. A cuddle and a purr have helped along the way.

I am so pleased with this quilt top so far with bottom and top sashing in place ready to sew on when last sashing is attached. Chookyblue and Kris everything is in place for another J after ther other M for May.
I can see that my next blocks won`t get appliqued till middle of July as my Mum turns 80 years old and we arre celebrating that with lots of family. She was one of 13 children. Sadly not all are alive anymore but most will come if they can travel.
Till next month Happy Stitching,
Clare.

More blocks from Susan

I am well behind schedule in putting the rows together but have been steam rolling ahead in making the blocks - there is just one to go - the sewing block.
Here are my latest blocks:
Simply gorgeous shoes - wish I could wear shoes like this:

Butterflies - I really don't like them fluttering - much better when they are still.
I did a pet dog for the pet cat - and a pet cat for the sunshine on my face
 My chair block .....
and birdsong - not just in the morning
Still got a lot of squares to sew together - fortunately I have a lot cut and a few strips which are also cut.

June Blocks and TOP!!!

I finished my June blocks and then I finished my top!  Chooky may I please have a top!  Now I need to quilt it.  This has been such a fun quilt to make - very addictive! Oh my hubby took the first picture - the baseball game is on in the back LOL!

May and June blocks

Great to finally have sewn together May and June and added to the rest of this beautiful quilt!  I'm really enjoying stitching this quilt!  It's getting harder to photograph!!!

I changed the pattern to add "my dog" rather than the cat (taken from a Lynette Anderson design)

Best friends!

And I changed the sewing block by piecing three foundation pieced squares at the bottom and sewing them into the actual block and I added buttons to the tops of the cotton spools!   A fun row to have finished!!   All the blocks are ironed on for July and August .... ready to stitch!!   I can see the end in sight!  Great to see the wonderful progress everyone is making on their quilts!  Come on girls .... let's do Chooky proud and have a great run home!!  ....... Some blocks for my SKow

Up until now I have only posted pictures of blocks when the section was done so I could get ticked off.  But as the deadline approaches I have not stuck to the schedule as much - some blocks are easier/quicker than others so I did some work on them.  So here are some blocks from the last 2 rows that are ready to go after trimming back to size.

The fabric I used for the heart was just big enough (though there is a tiny join in it) - I thought it was so appropriate since I have 2 daughters - one blonde - one brunette.

(Both I and my Best Friend have short hair so I changed that too.)

I have prepared the cat and butterflies and "chair" block.
My (blonde) daughter saw the "pet cat" and said "Where's the pet dog???  The cat belongs to the brunette who no longer lives here (she got married) though the cat still lives here.  But blonde daughter has a dog - so following the lead by BugzRugz I am going to try to turn the cat into a dog - mmm should be a challenge for someone with no drawing skills  but I do have a Lynnette Anderson book here that might help.  And he needs to be a pale beige - that will also present a challenge since I have white backgrounds.
Stay tuned for progress on the dog (and the "Chair").

Meow!

June's blocks done! Heart that cat. I prefer a pink nose... and love the idea of a cat named "Munch"! :)

My last SKOW Block "Bird Block"

This is my last block for the SKOW
"My Favourite Things Quilt" Stitch-a-long.....
It was supposed to be the "Bird Block" which was
cute but as I love going to a good movie,
I thought this would be more appropriate....

I have had fun creating some unique to me blocks for my quilt...
And what's a trip to the movies without Pop Corn.....
I am now going to put them aside until I have an uninterrupted
day at home to get some of the strips joined up.....
I am off to Young to watch Jacky Mister play AFL today so
I will have to tell you all about The Quilt Show later.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Kate

SKOW "Tree Block"

This block has been a bit of a marathon effort....
I didn't think I would ever get all those petals stitched....
I am so glad that I am not doing needle turn!
I have put one of my new sewing tins to good use
while stitching this block and the padded top
doubles as a great pin cushion....
Thanks again Suzie Black....Mwa!
No cat for me under my tree....
I added these flowers from one of the stitcheries
in Anni's new book "The Simple Life"....
The birdie is a bit cute....
So nice to see this one all finished.....
This means 1 block left for me to stitch....
"Birdsong" Hmmmm....not sure what I will do with that one yet!
Here they are ready to be trimmed to size,
but we can't rush these things.....Lol...

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Kate

SKOW "Cat Block"

I know what you are thinking....
She has done it again and
"Where's the Cat"
Well I am not much of a cat lover....
But shopping, well that is high up there on the list....Ha ha!
So this is the block that I have substituted for my "Cat Block"....
Have any of you changed some blocks to suit your personality?
I would love to hear your ideas....
Stitching with the girls at Alison's tonight....Yay!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

A SKoW Cushion

With a long weekend in NSW Australia this weekend,
I has given me lots of sewing time.
I've completed this cushion for my "Best Friend"
Also found time to get a couple more block completed too
