Yahoo....I've finished...

with half an hour to spare- it's just gone past 11.30pm here in NZ and I have just put in the last few stitches of the binding.. (UPDATE...1st October...have replaced photo, rushed to get one on the post last night....a bit windy outside though...so had to pin it to a tree in the garden!!)

4hrs and 35 mins and counting down..........

I had some friends over sewing today............we didn't have to go to the cows..............days at home are rare so it was lovely......... champagne and a lovely lunch together.........lots of chatter.......
I worked on my TTS as the deadline in loaming..........sorry the stitchery is upside down for this snap I have ditched around the stitcheries........
binding is cut - going to attach now and then start hand sewing it down..............
can I do it.........it's going to be a long night...............hope the eyes hold out and I don't fall asleep..........
Keep Stitching............

CHOOKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would have finished the quilt within september 30.

and this wonderful backing that I do love :)

and i do and do and do love much more the new entry, i am sure she will cuddle in the new quilt :)

now, talking seriously Choky, when do we start Anni's "my favourite things"?

the book is getting old.
the fabrics are  WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, talking seriously, do we have to wait for lazy girls like you? :-PPP

hugs to all from Milano.
Kokina

p.s. thanks so much Chookie, i would have never finished it without you.
a great hug and a smoochie.

Almost There But ........

My Quilt Top is together except for the final border.  I auditioned fabrics last night and just do not like any of them so have ordered some more French General Red for the final border - The inner border had photographed a bit green but it is actually Grey.

So I am almost there.....  Congratulations to those girls that are already finished.

Hugs - Fee X

Quilt (TOP) Completed! JIT...........

Well here it is, the top anyway, just in time.................Inbetween packing up my house to move I pulled out my sewing stuff and as I had it all on the dining table ready to pack, I decided to just cut the two border pieces and quickly sew them together when my son was asleep (little 14mth old hands love everything they can reach on the table).............

I'm afraid I'm not going to get time to go and buy batting today and then quilt and bind.......that is just not at all possible.

I'm really happy with the outcome and I'm going to try machine quilting for the very first time. I did a class with Deb Louie a couple of mths ago and thought this was the perfect quilt to attempt my 'quilting in the ditch' and 'free-motion' - wish me luck.

I'm thinking of the lightblue as the binding too..........or maybe red?

I also want to add that I've really enjoyed this SAL Chooky - thanks for organising. Its so lovely to see everyone's work and different fabrics. I hope you have all enjoyed this as much as me!!

Happy Stitching, Susie

Yay I made it!!

After a big day yesterday quilting and binding I finished off my quilt!! So I am doing a happy dance today to have finished before the dead line (only just)

Thank you to all the girls in the group for their encouragement along the way and big THANKYOU to Chooky for all the time she puts into this stitchalong...I needed all the whip cracking other wise I know I wouldn't have two (GJ and TTS) finished quilts!!

With 24 hours to go I must admit I have been finished since May!  Life got in the way!  But here it is...mission accomplished.  I plan on hand quilting it when life slows down for me.  I have thoroughly enjoyed stitching along with all of you.  Thank you all for your inspiration!

Will I make it?????

That is the question... I have seven blocks hanging up on my wall:

....waiting for these five blocks to join them:

I also have the wreath done and now need to do some writing in it to turn it into the label - no photo yet till it is done. I am most impressed with all of you who are done already!!! So, after this quick update I'd better get back to work and see just how far I can get before the countdown timer runs out!!

Joy from Joy's Quilts

I think I can....

I still haven't given up on meeting the dead line. Although I think some speedy stitching might be needed! Lol!

Congratulations to all those girls who have finished...you are all keeping me going, and of course Chooky and her whip!! Lol!

Hope to be back soon!

I am supposed to be working on my quilt, Chookyblue is expecting it finished by Sept 30th.

Hmmm I don't know if its going to happen yet, I have stitched it all together, it needs a few finishing touches then quilting and binding, I like making things but not the actual quilting so much, it always makes my hands sore! I was a late starter though so maybe I'll get a few more weeks?????????

Borders

A quick update to let you all see that I have added my borders.  I have cut my binding strips in the same colour as the outer border fabric.
I chose my inner border fabric to frame the blocks.  I am a little worried that it may be a little too bold.  Time is ticking away.  Still need to layer, quilt and bind.  I feel it is time to give up sleeping, cooking and cleaning until I finish the quilt!!  I have enjoyed working on this project.  Thank you Chookyblue.
P.S.  Does it count that I am twelve hours behind Australia?  It is still Wednesday 28th here!!

Finished....and on time.......and very happy....!!

Well, I have learned that it is fun to stitch-a-long with others and see the many varied versions, and varied techniques that emerge. This has been a first for me, and definitely not the last.....

I have enjoyed the little stitcheries, and very pleased with the final result. I decided to hand quilt around the darker borders with perle thread and it turned out just as I'd hoped.

Picked up the outer border fabric at Spotlight, and I like it.....adds a bit of pizzazz, and brightens it all up...

....so I'm all ready for the Silly Season to begin now.....and the calendar tells me it is looming....Santa's elves will be busy right now, hopefully making me a new sewing machine...hahahaha.......what will they be making for you???.........

It will be a lovely thought when I look at my beautiful Christmas quilt hanging this year, to know that there are lots of houses all over the world with a similar one hanging, all ladies sharing a passion for stitching and sewing.

....I must take this opportunity to thank the very special Chookyblue for hatching the SAL,  keeping the SAL together, allowing me to join, and keeping us all informed and motivated........just hang that whip up......I'm on time....(wiping brow!!!)

....so bring on the next project.......when you're ready of course.....I have plenty to do while I wait!!!!

Sandy XXX

Boo Hoo.....

I don't have any photos cause I'm too sad about the fact that my machine quilting was a disaster!

I am now practicing my reverse stitching. It's not fun!

I'll have to forgo having my second TTS quilt done by the deadline. I am going to hand quilt it and it will take a while!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ELSE THOUGH FOR THE DEADLINE!!

ON BEHALF OF CHOOKYBLUE - CRACK CRACK! LOL

aarrrgg...........

All plans of finishing are being DISRUPTED by everything............i'm still trying BUT.........life happens.........

Keep up the great work girls............a few more finished..........
..GO FOR IT............
Keep Stitching..........Chookyblue

Blocks done and top together

last block finished

second last block sewn into quilt

the top finished
This morning I sewed the blocks together, I am still working out what to do next. I was thinking about sewing all the leftover stripy bits together and doing that as a skinny border. I have a dessert roll (5" by with of fabric)of this line - Glace by Moda it has the blue fabric that is used in the bottom right hand corner block as well it comes in green, cream and red.
